Introduction to Screen-printing
Saturday 23rd August 10-5pm
5 places £70/ £63 concessions

A simple, quick, hands on course that introduces basic techniques used in Screen Printing. A chance to produce a colourful series of prints.

 


Introduction to Photo screen printing
Saturday 30th August & 6th September 10-5pm
or
Saturday 8th & 15th November 10-5pm
6 places £110/£99 concessions

This course introduces screen-printing techniques using a photo sensitive technique allowing digital images, hand drawn designs and photo copied material to be transferred into stencils. This course is ideal for beginners.

 


Introduction to Printmaking
Thursday 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th September 6-8.30pm
7 places £100/£90 concessions

The first session of this four-week course starts with monoprinting, ideal for those with no experience of printmaking, the session experiments with texture and colour. The following three sessions cover the basic principles of etching, exploring tone and colour work. A good introductory course to printmaking.

 


Monoprinting
Saturday 27th September 10-5pm

Monday 10th November 10-5pm

This daylong course explores the subtlety and vibrancy of colour and texture possible in monoprinting. An immediate printmaking technique, its an ideal course for beginners with the opportunity to produce a wide range of prints.

 


Further Etching Techniques
Thursday 2nd & 9th October 6-8.30pm
6 places £60/£54 concessions

This course is suitable for those with some experience of etching. The two evening course looks closely at Sugar Lift technique and spit bite.

 

Wood Engraving
Saturday 4th October 10-5pm
7 places £50/£45 concessions

Create your very own miniature Thomas Bewick type print using the techniques employed by the famous Geordie engraver. An ideal course for beginners, the day will result in your very own edition.

 


Collographs
Saturday 11th October 10-5pm
7 places £50/£45 concessions

Using recycled and reclaimed materials, this day will cover the basic principles of collograph printing, with the opportunity to create your own unique, variations.

 


Lino printing
Thursday 16th & 23rd October 6-8.30pm
8 places £60/£55 concession

Just one of the many relief printing techniques, lino printing is an ideal course for beginners. The two evenings will provide the opportunity to produce a series of prints using colour and a selection of paper. Take home the tools at the end of the day.

 


Japanese Woodblock Printing
Saturday 18th October 10-5pm
8 places £60/£54 concessions
The day will be divided into using tradition carving techniques, followed by the chance to edition and print your own series of prints in colour. Take home the tools at the end of the day.

 


Drypoint
Monday 20th October 10am-5pm
7 places £50/£45 concessions

This course is perfect for anyone who enjoys drawing and is a perfect introduction to printmaking. You will be introduced to several different ways to draw your image onto a plate and then print it using an etching press.

 


Etching
Saturday 25th October 10am-5pm
7 places £60/£54 concessions

An introduction into some of the basic principles. The day will cover making an etching plate and printing it in colour using a wide selection of specialist printing papers.


Carborundum Printing
Thursday 30th October 6-8.30pm
7 places £30/£25 concessions

A versatile grit-like material, carborundum is used by Artists such as Hughie O’Donahue in printmaking to create textural and tonal qualities. This introductory course is suitable with those with some experience of etching or collagraph making.


Drop in Family t-shirt printing
Thursday 30th & Friday 31st October 10-12pm
Come along and have a go at screenprinting your own t-shirt. All materials will be provided

Further Etching techniques - Photo Etching
Thursday 13th & 20th November 6-8.30pm
6 places £65/£60 concessions

An introductory course to photo etching skills. Ideal for those with some darkroom experience or etching skills, the two evenings will lead you through the process of transferring digital, hand drawn or photo copied images onto a photo sensitive plate.
