Prints by The Kuru Artists, Bridget Jones and Joanna Kinnersly-Taylor The exhibition runs from 15th March - 6th May 2007. Kuru Artists The Kuru Art project is based in South Africa and their aim is to facilitate the provision of technical advice, materials and studio space to artists from the Ghanzi community. The artists develop their own techniques and style within their work, producing contemporary art that is original and remarkable in character, including linocuts, etchings and lithographs. The subject matter is often based on the past, capturing stories and memories of how things used to be, helping to preserve their culture, traditions, stories and myths. This exhibition presents a series of lithographs produced by the artists and printed at The Artists' Press in South Africa.
Bridget Jones For twenty years Bridget has made architectural glass to commission using print to inform her designs and, more recently, producing screenprinted glass. Now, using printmaking as an artform in its own right, she uses relief, intaglio and screenprinting techniques to create images which echo her work in glass, but which have developed their own life. This exhibition presents a series of prints which capture aspects of the garden, the vegetable plot, the kitchen and further afield.
Joanna Kinnersly-Taylor Joanna is a printed textile artists and designer and works from her studio in Glasgow, where her wide-ranging practice includes architectural commissions and domestic linens. The Jellies & Cutlery range uses the repetition of forks, spoons and jelly moulds handprinted on fine quality linen to form delicate rhythmic compositions. Admission is free to all exhibitions at Northern Print
