Alec Finlay, the artist & creater of this book said "On my first visit to a star camp (at Kielder Water) I met an enthusiast who explained that he longer brings a telescope, preferring to simply look at the stars with his own eyes. The calendar we have prepared is best suited for these purposes.... whether you do use the book for astonomical observations as it was intended, or as an astrologer or poet; the blank pages are a workbook..."

Alec is an artist, poet & publisher. Born in Scotland in 1966, he now lives in Newcastle.

His work has been exhibited all over the UK including BALTIC (Gateshead), Royal Scottish Academy (Edinburgh) and Yorkshire Sculpture Park (West Bretton).

He has completed a number of residencies including at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, where he created a series of art projects on themes connected with nature and contemporary culture & AVANT-GARDE ENGLISH LANDSCAPE; BALTIC, where he created a series of publications and performances.

Publishing includes the pocketbooks series, platform projects, bookscapes, morning star and web-books. His poetry has been published in magazines and anthologies, including island, Practice and Poetry Review.
